MÉTÉORES

Introduction

Météores is Lucie de Saint Vincent’s newest project, an intimate journey featuring her original works for solo piano.

It’s a musical exploration of human emotions, perceived as the ephemeral and luminous phenomena that traverse our lives and influence our understanding of the world.

Each piece is a “meteor of the soul”, a burst of life, a fragment of light captured and transcribed into music. Unlike a meteorite, a meteor never touches the earth. Cast in the image of these stones streaking through space, Lucie’s compositions burn, soar, and escape us, perhaps carrying within them the origins of our humanity.

Improvisation and the notions of movement and instantaneity play a central role in these transcriptions. Lucie’s musical approach melds jazz and classical music with the colours and harmonies of world music, thus creating a unique language that resembles and moves us all.

Météors unfolds in ten tableaux, among them Luniko, In Utero, Venus, Envol, Ondes, N’s…These pianistic moments retrace the path of a life: the encounters, the separations, the births, the griefs, the forgetting, the deaths and the healings.

Lucie takes us along on her personal journey, telling the story of our shared humanity, our vulnerabilities and our individual challenges.

It is a poetry at once individual and universal.

Météores crystallises our emotions into pure beauty; it leaves in its wake wonder, mystery and the possibility of rebirth.
