PASSIO
Introduction
Passio (or, The Passion According to the Women) is a new oratorio inspired by the history and symbols of the Christian Passion, which are revisited in a contemporary context and viewed from the female perspective, examining the role of women in the sacred narrative and thus shedding light on their sufferings and transformations.
Led by Lucie de Saint Vincent (composer and pianist, France) and Maribeth Diggle (soprano and metteuse en scène, USA), in Passio, the Collectif Trytone reunites a diverse group of artists to create a new libretto and composition.
Using democratic and inclusive creative practices, the Collectif has created a narrative surrounding the Passion of women that directly resonates with today’s audiences and current questions about genre.
